When was the last time you had your home or business’s air ducts cleaned? A few years ago? Months? Never? If it has been a long time, your air ducts are more than likely clogged. After years of neglect, dust, pet dander, bacteria, fungus, pollens, molds, and all kinds of filth can all accumulate in the vents and air ducts, resulting in poor air quality and inefficient and ineffective air conditioning system.

When your air conditioning system activates, the contents within the duct system get stirred around and pushed into your air. Some of it lands on your furniture. Some of it ends up in your kitchen. Some of it gets inhaled. When you have dirty air ducts, the result is an entire home that needs to be cleaned more often, and it can even lead to an increase in allergy symptoms for those inside of the dwelling. Keeping your air ducts sanitized is vital to a clean and healthy home.

What is Air Duct Sanitization?

The experienced and knowledgeable technicians at 5 Star Air have learned that duct sanitation is a far better solution than duct cleaning as duct cleaning can be problematic/destructive rather than helpful/beneficial to your system. The process is rough and tough on the duct system and can cause more harm than good. Oftentimes, cleaning the system components (cooling coils, fans, etc) and maintenance is beneficial. We typically suggest a service call to inspect the condition of the duct system to see if sanitation would be helpful, duct replacement, or proven indoor air quality solutions

The first step is an inspection. Our experts take a look at your HVAC system and analyze the insides of the air ducts to see how clogged they genuinely are. When looking at the ducts, our experts are looking for problem areas—any spot that may have mold and filth caked to the sides of the air duct. If any of those problem areas are spotted, we’ll use a special set of tools to loosen the contents within the duct system to prepare it for sanitization.

Our process uses a special vacuum sealed line. We’ll attach these lines to your ducts, first making sure that the vents are all covered to prevent dirt and dust from being blown throughout the house. Essentially suck all of that nastiness out of the air duct. Once the majority of the dust and debris is cleared, we’ll look at the ducts to ensure we got it all. If there are still any problem areas, we’ll use our tools to loosen those spots up even further before sucking them up once again. After vacuuming is complete, we’ll sanitize the ducts, to remove any mold or mold spores that may be hidden throughout. The ending result is a clear, sanitized air duct. You’ll almost immediately notice a difference in air quality.

In addition to duct sanitizing, our skilled technicians are also proficient at installing and repairing ductwork. Whether we’re serving a residential or commercial client, you can rest assured you will receive 5 star service from our expertly trained staff!
